Wood carving has become a fulfilling and rewarding small business for me.  It requires patience, precision, and creativity, with the end result always worth the effort. Whether I'm carving unique charcuterie boards or creating chainsaw art, wood carving has become a true passion that allows me to express myself artistically. I am grateful that my carving journey has been filled with the unwavering support and encouragement of my amazing husband, Paul.

Embracing New Challenges: The Power of Possibility

Believing in myself and having the confidence to do anything for the first time, has been with me for my entire life.  The mindset of  I’ve never done that before, but I'm sure I can do it, opens up a world of opportunities. Turns out I am pretty good at firsts!  It allows  me to step out of my comfort zones and explore a new range of experiences.

This mindset encourages my personal growth and  development, as it pushes me to constantly learn and adapt. It is through these experiences that I discover...

limitations are only perceived barriers.

What do I Carve?

Whatever comes to mind, I go for it. Big carves include tree stumps, as well as wild birds, gators, fish and wood spirits.  In between the big carves, I spend lot of time crafting the "most unique charcuterie boards in Austin".  My most recognized style of carving is by rising the grain to an extreme. This  gives the carve a lot of movement.  I call this technique "Burn and Reveal".  My favorite finish style is with lots of bold colors and  natural semi-precious stones. This makes every serving piece truly unique.  If you are interested in having a customized carving of any kind,  please see WOOD TALK for more information.  See what I'm carving now by visiting my social media and gallery.

 Thanks so much,

Dusty

Special shoutout to my friend Rob- the Texas Chainsaw Carver.  I'm so thankful he is always there to answer my questions, give pointers.   His onsite demo and encouragement inspired me to carve this Great Horned Owl.
